The project aims to define a new procedure for tailoring therapeutic interventions in epilepsy based on the individual profile of body composition and other potentially influencing factors. To this end, the relationship between plasma levels of antiepileptic drugs and body composition will be investigated in a sample of 200 patients using different bioimpedance approaches – including specificBIVA – and taking into account the effect of sex, age, physical activity, multimorbidity, cortisol levels, presence of SNPs.
The project, carried out by researchers from the University of Cagliari and the University of Messina, started in December 2023 and will end in November 2025, and is funded under the PRIN 2022 PNRR call of the Ministry of Universities and Research.
